SOFT LANDSCAPING

Tier 2 - Managed Natural Vegetation

Managed Natural Vegetation Areas include peripheral campus land, environmental buffers, undeveloped areas and locations designated for ecological enhancement or revegetation.

These areas should retain or restore natural vegetation character while ensuring public safety and environmental resilience. Landscape interventions should focus on revegetation, erosion control, habitat enhancement and the establishment of self-sustaining vegetation communities that require minimal ongoing maintenance.

Purpose

Open space and landscape provide the environmental and visual framework that connects the campus, supports pedestrian movement, enhances the learning environment and contributes to campus identity. Well-designed landscaping improves amenity, provides shade, creates attractive outdoor spaces and supports environmental sustainability.

Two tiers of landscape treatment have been established to guide campus development and maintenance.
